This is why I try not to sell anything. I give the conditions and forecast as I see it and cater my wording to fit the perceptions of the public at the time. Since we've had a cold winter, mid 40s are considered warm but in reality it is near normal. In this day in age, ...That is a very good question. In this day in age, people can't sit and watch a newscast from beginning to end like we could 20+ years ago. So quicker more frequent weather hits fit the newscast template for today's society. I ask as I, for one, many times feel the weather portions of a news broadcast are too detailed, given too many times during a show, and can create unwarranted “oh, what will I do” weather concerns.
